Artists Biography
We want to bring all layers of the population into contact with inspiring art in an accessible way.
We are 3 contemporary artists from Amsterdam who have decided to join forces after several collaborations. We all had our own studio in the same building and soon noticed that by working together we could set up larger and more unique projects and even more easily realize our creative ideas into works of art. Secret DNA was created at the beginning of 2017 in a completely organic way. Due to our diverse creative backgrounds, we create and offer a wide range of art forms such as: paintings, sculptures, music, photography and videography.
As individual artists, we are not looking for fame, but rather want Secret DNA to form a platform with different creative disciplines and various art expressions in order to reach a larger group of people. Our mission is to inspire people with Secret DNA to become more open to various important and sensitive topics such as; inclusiveness, discrimination, racism, LGBTIQ+, society, emancipation, spirituality, globalization, sustainability, awareness, self-awareness, nature and so much more.
Secret DNA stands for art that is accessible for everyone to admire. Due to interest in exhibitions from several renowned museums and galleries, we have gained a good idea of the value and cultural significance of our artworks. Even though we did not start working with them, we are grateful to them for the interest, appraisal and appreciation of our works of art.
All this has given us the ingenious idea of organizing our own mini museums and exhibitions, because this allows us to exhibit our works of art close to people and art lovers so that many people can admire it easily without paying an entrance fee. It is an accessible and inspiring mini museum and exhibition where visitors can admire our works of art free of charge and be inspired, moved and amazed.
The Secret DNA Experience is initially a mini museum and exhibition traveling through the Netherlands that is offered in an accessible way close to residents of a certain township with collections aimed at inclusivity, discrimination, racism, LGBTIQ+, society, emancipation, spirituality, globalization, sustainability, awareness, self-awareness, nature and more.
For each mini museum and exhibition there are 40/50 works of art that are exhibited, the free entrance and the inspiring character will also attract visitors who do not have much affinity with art and that is precisely our approach. We want to bring all layers of the population into contact with inspiring art in an accessible way. We want to show everyone who enters that art is not only reserved for the elite or certain groups of people but is understandable and easily interpretable for everyone regardless of gender, origin, orientation, age, background or economic status. And to top it all off, we are giving away a free work of art worth € 15.000,- for every mini museum and exhibition we organize.
Secret DNA donates 50% of its collections for free to people who normally cannot afford this kind of artwork in terms of prices, also to make the artworks available to everyone regardless of gender, origin, orientation, age or economic status. The money we earn from the sale of the rest of the collections is invested in creating new and larger works of art, such as large sculptures and any new mini museums and exhibition that we are going to organize. We make a large part of the budget available for free art education for everyone who is interested in it. To achieve all this, we have started a fund so that we can live up to the above philosophy and way of donating. We put almost everything we earn with Secret DNA into this fund and in this way we can realize our mission and vision in an orderly and transparent manner. This fund with associated philosophy, mission and vision makes us an ‘economic circular art platform’. Because almost everything we earn flows back into making exclusive art accessible to everyone regardless of gender, origin, orientation, age, background or economic status.
We are currently busy executing an experimental art project that will make us global news. We are going to make 8 different paintings based on the community art idea, which means that 50 different children will teamwise make a painting that will later contain an inspiring or controversial text. With this experimental art project, we want to show that with a little bit of inspirational guidance you can have a high-quality art painting made with 50 different children regardless of age without any artistic background. We are currently busy executing and making the 8 different paintings from the community art idea. Have you become curious?
